Just in: Tonobok Okowa emerges AFN
Tonobok Okowa emerges AFN President.
Following the Dissolution of the board of Athletics Federation of Nigeria by the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development in line with the Article 10.4 of the 2017 constitution of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria Tonobok Okowa, the commissioner of Youth and Sports in Delta state have emerged the winner.
In a free and fair election of the President, the First Vice President and the Second vice president, Mr. Okowa emerged the winner with 41 counted votes out of 44 with 3 null votes.
Addressing Press men, the just elected president expressed his joy saying
"I feel very great because I know that we've worked so hard to get to this point, we have won and as far as I am concerned, it is not the time to tour around it is all about preparing and figuring out the next thing to do. Every promise that we've given, we have to work hard to achieve it such as making sure we give enabling environment to the Athletes and coaches, welfare packages and all."
It is evident that Okowa is geared towards working in unity. He said "its not all about position it is about achievements, I know that there have been problems but we'll look into the causes and make sure that they are resolved in no time"
